The Four Little Seymours are currently lost around our local village. I left them there on Friday, abandoned near the funeral directors, the church, the library and the park. It was hard to walk away. I kept popping back – purportedly to check they were placed correctly, but in reality, to give each one a farewell pat, and wish them well.
Yes, the Four Little Seymours are currently emblazoned upon stones, and taking part in the current trend of painted rock-hunting that seems to be sweeping the nation.
Number One, Mini and Boy have all apparently been found and will be re-hidden, but what of Little Seymour Number Two… will she re-surface? Or did I leave her alone in stone-form to be lost forever?
I’m not exactly sure what I have done. The Four Little Seymours are meant to be together. Will they ever reunite? Will I ever again be able to photograph them as a group, side-by-side, as they should be? Or is this my subconscience, desperately attempting to give the buggers some space from each other, to stop all the wretched arguments they seem to be having these days? I don’t know.
All I do know is that The Four Little Seymours themselves were beyond excited upon finding the painted rocks during these last few weeks, so it seems right to be playing along.
I just hope that, when this trend is done and dusted, the Seymour rocks find themselves together once more somewhere, making up a set. For they may be argumentative, jumped-up little grotbags, but they are mine, and I love them.
