Well here we all are. Still. Muddling along. Adapting to this new, strange world.

Nothing of note has happened. I mean, The Funny Little Bungalow is now rendered, which is actually far more amazing than I have fully appreciated as yet. That is progress indeed. Yet it seems to only highlight all the things we are yet to do, and all the things that need re-doing, part of the roof included… But we will not go there. Shhh. I don’t want to talk about it.

The exciting news is that Boy Seymour goes back to school this week! Only for two days. And only for the next three weeks. But I feared this day would never come. And so I rejoice! Home schooling is do-able… yet it’s also really boring. The Boychild has become an expert in  recording videos to his teacher explaining why he can’t do x, y or z. He won’t take pen to paper to write a piece of fiction, but he will witter on at length about his broken link or an absence of equipment, thereby rendering a task utterly impossible. I worry about him.

The home schooling does seem to have a “winding down” feel to it now. I am not too worried, because that tends to happen in July, anyway. Ordinarily, tests would be over, school would be one series of end-of-term type stuff, and the focus would be on fun. We are a way off normality still, but I am hopeful that soon, things will begin to slot back into place.

And despite lockdown, The Four Little Seymours have still managed to pop up on people’s tellies, prompting a chain of messages from friends, colleagues and Cub leaders alike, saying that they have just seen the buggers on the box. Who knew that an old pinball machine would have such appeal?

Apart from that, my knee is falling off, my shrubs are dying, the house is taking a battering, Big Seymour is grumpy he’s not been furloughed, Number One is all at sea, Number Two has lost the plot, Boy has turned into a tweenager, and Mini can’t count. But she can entertain the neighbours with show tunes at a respectable distance.

I feel this post is boring, for which I apologise. I have rather lost my mojo recently… But never fear! I am sorting the house out, so I’m bound to find it soon. And then I shall be on fire.
